Strong Bones & Healthy Joints
Why does alignment matter in yoga?
Provides postural stability
Decreases joint strain
Facilitates breath
Supports concentration
Circulates prana
Relieves pain
Enhances full-body presence
Integrates mind, body, senses, and spirit
A really cool thing happens when we load the bone tissue in yoga asana: The joint spaces open, and the muscles spontaneously activate in a balanced manner around the joints, which makes you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally stable.
I'm super excited about this workshop because it unites my nerdy love for anatomy and physiology with Ayurveda and subtle body practices. For those who have been practicing yoga for a while, this one is going to be special. Here is a little sneak peak:
The function of the bone tissue is dharana, which means holding. Dharana is also one of the eight limbs of yoga, and the first stage of meditation. When we activate the bone tissue, it strengthens the bones, and it also strengthens our ability to concentrate, and to hold space for ourselves.
Bones are governed by vata dosha, which is made up of wind and space. When vata increases, the strength of the bones decreases. To strengthen the bones, we must build kapha, which is earth and water. Nourishing kapha also supports the lubrication and stability of the joints, improves the flow of prana through the body, and deepens the concentration of the mind.
Come to this workshop if you:
