Wonder returns us to love

Lessons from the eclipse portal

The eclipse was pretty magical, wasn’t it? What struck me most, besides the awe it generated, was the fact that here in Vermont, we humans aligned with the rhythm of nature. Businesses closed and people gathered together to share an experience with every other being in nature in this region. We let ourselves slow down and experience the moment. Some people celebrated, and others prayed, but no matter what we were doing, we were united for a few minutes in a shared experience of wonder.

One of my favorite thought-leaders is the writer and activist, Valarie Kaur. She wrote a beautiful book called See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love. Here is her description of the practice of revolutionary love:

“Love is a form of sweet labor: fierce, bloody, imperfect, and life giving – a choice we make over and over again. As labor, love can be taught, modeled, and practiced. “Revolutionary love” is the choice to enter into labor for others, for our opponents, and for ourselves in order to transform the world around us. It is not a formal code or prescription but an orientation to life that is personal and political. It engages all our emotions: Joy is the gift of love. Grief is the price of love. Anger protects that which is loved. And when we think we have reached our limit, wonder is the act that returns us to love.”

— Valarie Kaur

Eclipse seasons can rock our worlds, and you might have experienced all of the emotions over the past few weeks. I don’t know about you, but for me, this eclipse season has done exactly what it was supposed to do: it revealed patterns and relationships that needed to change, and gave me an opportunity to practice revolutionary love. I’ve experienced a lot of loss over the past few years. It hasn’t always been easy to let go, but the universe keeps giving me opportunities to practice! This eclipse season helped me to see things with exquisite clarity, so that this time, it feels less like a loss and more like an alignment. This is a necessary ending; one born from setting appropriate boundaries, possessing the courage to move on from systems that abuse their power, and having the audacity to wonder about what could be possible when I move towards people and places that honor my wholeness and support my interconnectedness.

This time, it doesn’t feel like an ending, but rather a beginning. The old ways are being transformed, and the alchemy that is taking place is forming a vision of interdependence, co-creation, and community. I am choosing to trust that I have what I need to move through this transformation, and to leave space for the process to unfold.

I trust that you, too, received the messages you needed to receive during this eclipse season. I hope that you’ve given yourself time and space to digest your experience so that you can integrate those lessons and let go of what isn’t supporting your wholeness. I hope you see how magical you are, and that you choose to put your energy into beings, systems, and activities that magnify and reflect back to you your brilliance, no matter what phase you are in, and no matter what obstacles are in your way. I hope you align with others who can hold space for your grief, sorrows, and fears, and who return you back to wonder. I hope as you embark on the next phase of your journey, that your trust your own wisdom and let your heart guide you.

You’ve got this. And if you could use some support in reconnecting with your inner wisdom, I’ve got you. Schedule a free Discovery Call and let’s chat about how we can work together to help you build new patterns that support your wholeness and wellness. It’s time to leave the old ways behind and to create a life that allows you to thrive.
